What is EIB? EIB stands for ”European Installation Bus” and is a standard
used for Home Automation to control numerous electrical devices in the home or office.
Due to the standardisation of the controlling network and the creation of a
uniform protocol plus a wide range of offered actuators and sensors any
thinkable application in the building automation and control is now possible.
The AGFEO Telephone Systems AS 43, AS 45 and AS 200 IT, if fitted with an EIB Module 522, are the first telephone systems on the market which offer an EIB interface. This means that telephones connected to the AGFEO PABX with an EIB Module 522 can control devices within an EIB/Konnex installation. In other words any telephone or cordless phone can switch on lights or control room temperatures, open doors, dim lights to name only a few. AGFEO Digital System Phones are particular suited for this type of application as they will indicate the current status of a particular operation. But it does not end here. The garage door can also be opened directly from the users mobile phone, free of charge of course. Indeed the whole building can be controlled remotely from any telephone if so required. The possibilities are endless. The AGFEO Telephone System with EIB Module 522 can be an invaluable addition to any EIB/Konnex installation. The EIB Module 522 could pay for itself as it will save on the installation of some light switches, timing devices, remote controls, time servers etc.
